Schüco IoF –
Scrollytelling about sustainability
For sustainability, window manufacturer Schüco relies on a small plaque with a big impact: the digitalization of building facades through IoF (Internet of Facades) IDs.
The ID allows data to be stored for each element, enabling efficient and targeted maintenance and product upgrades. Additionally, elements with the ID are clearly documented for future recycling, making it possible to separate them by type and to reintroduce them into the material cycle.
For the launch of IoF, Yellow Tree was responsible for the concept, design, and implementation of the trade fair booth and later the microsite.
The idea
In the hustle of a trade fair, the attention of visitors must be captured actively. The new topic of IoF and its benefits had to be communicated clearly and effectively - right at the center of the new trade fair booth at Schüco’s most important trade show appearance.
The application’s UX and UI became the top priority. To meet these demands, our team decided to tell the Story of IoF through scrollytelling. This allowed us to present each piece of information sequentially, crafting a well-designed and engaging narrative.
The solution
To make the complex concepts behind IoF easy to understand and accessible for trade fair visitors, we chose an immersive presentation method: scrollytelling. Instead of reading static content, users can scroll through visually engaging elements which unfold in a captivating way. Images, animations, graphics, and text are presented in sequence, creating a unique and memorable experience.
The purpose of scrollytelling is to present complex information in an engaging and easily understandable way. It allows data, facts, and stories to be conveyed in a narrative flow, deepening the understanding and creating an emotional connection to the content. This form of narrative enables information to be presented in layers, allowing users to engage with different levels of the content. Scrollytelling transforms the way information is consumed: it makes content become more vivid, interactive, and appealing.
Web application
The application runs on a Node server, which can also be installed and operated locally on a computer if needed.
The frontend uses React.js as a framework to enable complex animations and scroll events. Additionally, the framework supports the creation of an interactive and user-friendly interface.
